    National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO)- Together We Can

    PROJECT OVERVIEW:

    Lanae Norwood & Associates collaborated with the NALEO Educational Fund on the “Together We Can” initiative, focusing on increasing vaccination rates among Black/African American youth in Southern California. This initiative sought to create a compelling, culturally resonant campaign that aligned with NALEO’s broader vaccination efforts, employing social media, video production, and digital marketing strategies.

    CHALLENGE:

    The primary challenge was engaging and motivating a historically underserved and underrepresented demographic through effective public health messaging. The project aimed to address vaccine hesitancy by crafting messages that resonated with Black/African American youth, overcoming misinformation, and fostering a community-focused narrative around vaccination.

    OUR APPROACH:

    • Design & Creative Content: Developed an Afrocentric, youth-oriented mini-campaign brand that complemented NALEO’s existing vaccination efforts. We designed the campaign’s visual and messaging strategy to be eye-catching and relatable to the target audience.
    • Social Media and Marketing Management: Designed and deployed a series of social media posts across platforms like Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, and Twitter, tailored to the preferences and behaviors of the target demographic. This approach ensured broad reach and engagement within the community.
    • Video Production: Produced a mix of custom and stock videos, including a 60-second commercial filmed on-location. These videos aimed to visually engage viewers and deliver powerful vaccination messages through relatable content and storytelling.
    • Digital Ads & Online Marketing: Executed a comprehensive digital marketing campaign across social media and Google ad channels, targeting Black/African American youth aged 18-35. The campaign utilized the developed brand and content to maximize visibility and impact.

    IMPACT:

    The “Together We Can” initiative changed the narrative around vaccination among Black/African American youth in Southern California. By leveraging culturally relevant messaging and visuals, the campaign successfully engaged the target audience, increasing awareness and understanding of the importance of vaccination. The strategic use of social media and digital ads amplified the reach, driving meaningful conversations and actions toward immunization. Feedback from the community and stakeholders highlighted a positive shift in perceptions attributed to the initiative’s innovative and inclusive approach to public health communication.
